Overview

Almost 20% of people in England are over 65 and since 2012-13 the number of pensioners living in poverty has steadily increased. More people are living with major illnesses and disabilities as they get older, and many face health and care inequalities and find it difficult to access the health and social care support they need.   Their mental and physical health and wellbeing has been affected by financial hardship, loneliness and social isolation, and a decline in their quality of life.

In Elmbridge, over 25,000 residents are aged over 65.  For those who are struggling to cope, CHEER provides an invaluable and vital service to help older people to lead full, dignified and independent lives in their own homes. We change lives.

Would you like to make a difference to an older person’s life?

£50 could help an older person get the care they need and access to the benefits they are entitled to

“Your donation will make a difference.  Choose whether to donate once or make a monthly or annual donation”.

Making a donation, or fundraising in memory, is a really special and meaningful way to honour someone who has meant so much to you.

We’re always incredibly touched to receive these donations and so grateful that the legacy of your loved one will be helping to make a huge difference to those we support.

There are a few different ways that you can honour the memory of your loved one, so that their life can play a role in helping many others.

A gift in your Will is an amazing way to do something special for those organisations you feel have helped you. Your own family and loved ones of course come first but we hope that, once you have looked after those closest to you, you might also remember us. We will use your gift with the greatest of care. We know you want your gift to make a difference and we promise that it will.

If you don’t have a Will, your estate will be divided according to the law when you die. This could mean that your wishes are not carried out as you would want them to be. Having a Will is the only way of ensuring that your loved ones and chosen charities will be remembered as you wish.

Any fixed sum of money (a “Pecuniary gift”) you can leave in your Will would be hugely important to CHEER

We would encourage you to discuss your Will with a solicitor to ensure that all legal requirements are met and that your Will is valid. A properly drafted Will can help reduce the amount of tax payable on your estate and increase the value of the assets that you pass on to the people you care about.

If you do kindly decide to leave a gift in your Will to CHEER, you will need the following information:

CHEER
Registered address:
Claygate Centre, Elm Road, Claygate, Surrey KT10 0EH
Registered charity number: 1133482

You should review your Will from time to time to make sure it still reflects your wishes. Whenever your circumstances change, you should update your Will. You can do this using a codicil and your solicitor can help you add this to your Will.

We respect your privacy, but we’d love to know if you’ve decided to remember CHEER in your Will. It also means we can thank you properly for your support.  We will keep any details you share with us confidential.
